Malachite has such a wonderful color. It makes me think of late spring and summer leaves, sunshine and warmth. This necklace combines the leafy green of malachite with the sunshine warmth of Baltic amber. The pendant is made of sterling silver, with two small malachite stones. They are connected with a little silver ring so the bottom part will move on its own. I cut out a couple of leaves behind the top, round stone.

The necklace is created with different sized and shaped malachite beads. In between each stone bead I placed a tiny coppery colored glass seed bead. Amber beads, with a sterling silver bead on each side, adds warmth and a summery glow. I used copper bead caps around the larger malachite beads; the hand made toggle clasp is also made of copper.

SIZE: The pendant measures about 1 1/2 inches long and just over 1/2 inch wide (the top part). The necklace is about 20 1/2 inches.

MATERIALS: Malachite, Baltic Amber (heat treated to shape), Sterling silver, Fine silver

PROPERTIES OF STONES (information compiled from various sources):  Malachite is considered a protection stone; in particular, it helps protect from negative energies. It is also supposed to contribute to creativity and developing the intuition. Amber is said to help balance emotions and clear the mind. It is also supposed to take negative energy away from the body and help ease stress. Because it is technically not a stone (but rather fossilized tree resin or sap), it is warm rather than cool as most stones are.
