This beautiful glowing Amethyst teardrop needed a simple setting to really show it off. I added a small dark purple faceted Amethyst, and textured the silver above the stone to give it a bit of shimmer as it moves. This is the perfect gift for the purple lover - or the February child as Amethyst is indeed February's birth stone. The setting is sterling and fine silver. This pendant is sold with an 18 inch sterling silver snake chain.
SIZE: The removable chain is 18 inches. The pendant hangs about 1 1/4 inches and is 5/8 inches wide. The little faceted Amethyst is 3mm.

PROPERTIES OF STONES (information compiled from various sources): One interesting property of amethyst, going back to ancient Roman times, is that it supposedly prevents drunkenness. In fact, the name comes from the Greek word "amethystus", meaning not drunken. Otherwise, amethyst is considered to provide calm, balance, patience and peace. Amethyst is February's birthstone.
