The second I saw this wonderful Amethyst Sage Agate, I knew it was part of a starry night scene. I see purple skies of late fall or winter, with moonlight clouds  and dark trees below. I added a couple of copper trees, a full moon and a cluster of stars above the stone and then darkened the background to contribute to the night sky appearance. The pendant is sterling silver, with fine silver (.999) moon, stars and bezel around the stone. The trees are antiqued copper. The bail is hand cut and riveted, with the rivet head filed to look like an additional star.

Lapidary work is by Laurie Gates Engelhardt of Vancouver, Washington USA.

PROPERTIES OF STONES (information compiled from various sources): Agate is said to strengthen the body and mind as well as promote courage. and is supposed to facilitate the ability to discern truth. Amethyst Sage Agate, sometimes called Purple Sage Agate, is found in the Bilk Mountain range in Nevada. It is a type of dendritic agate, with mineral inclusions creating interesting patterns in the stone. As well as having the metaphysical properties of all agates, Amethyst Sage Agates are said to be helpful in overcoming addictions and other self-destructive behaviors.
