The pretty faceted Amethyst Lace beads featured in these earrings made me think of spring crocus, or the light purple wild irises. I put a silver bead cap on top and bottom and added a little faceted dark purple Amethyst bead at the top. A sterling silver leaf dangles freely below each Amethyst. The leaves have been impressed with an actual leaf skeleton and were hand cut and shaped. The wire used and ear wires are sterling silver. Amethyst is February's birthstone!
SIZE: These earrings hang about 1 7/8 inches. The Amethyst Lace beads measure 8mm (about 5/16 inch). Each earring weighs about 1 gram.
MATERIALS: Amethyst Lace, Amethyst, Sterling silver
PROPERTIES OF STONES (information compiled from various sources): One interesting property of amethyst, going back to ancient Roman times, is that it supposedly prevents drunkenness. In fact, the name comes from the Greek word "amethystus", meaning not drunken. Otherwise, amethyst is considered to provide calm, balance, patience and peace. Amethyst is February's birthstone.
