I was inspired by the many mushrooms that popped up all over our property this fall. My first step was to find a few cabochons that had the right shape to be mushroom caps. This is one of them - a wonderful Ocean Jasper with pink and yellow-gold orbs.

The mushroom stem is copper. I added a little copper snail with silver shell on the stem, and a curvy copper grass clump next to it. The mushroom stem is textured and antiqued. The frill under the cap is also textured and has a bit of silver melted onto the copper.  I gave the background a shimmery sanded finish.  A dragonfly, preparing itself for winter, is cut out behind the stone. Two jump rings act as a bail.

Lapidary artist is Juvy Andres of JC Cabochons.

SIZE: The pendant hangs about 1 5/8 inches and is about 1 1/8 inches wide.  This pendant is sold without a chain. I offer a variety of chains and cords which can be purchased separately.

MATERIALS: Sterling silver, Fine silver, Copper, Ocean Jasper

PROPERTIES OF STONES (information compiled from various sources):  Ocean Jasper comes from Madagascar and nowhere else. Kabamby Ocean Jasper comes from a specific area in northwestern Madagascar, near the village of Kabamby. It's known for it's gold and green colors and geometric patterning.  Ocean Jasper is actually a type of chalcedony rather than jasper, with a variety of minerals mixed in. It is considered a stone of strength and renewal. It is supposed to help one communicate more positively and to rid oneself of negative feelings in general.
