These flat silver disc earrings feature cut-out roses and a frosty textured surface that catches the light as the earrings move. I felt the roses needed a little bit of color, so I added a deep red garnet above each one. The garnets are older ones that were hand cut in Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic) before 1960 or so. A little rosy pink seed bead above the garnet finishes the ensemble. The hand made ear wires are sterling silver. All wires and little bead caps are also sterling silver. A bonus - the garnet is January's birthstone!
These earrings are slightly on the heavy side, but at 5 grams each are still well under what is considered the maximum comfort weight for most people (7 grams).
SIZE: These earrings hang about 2 1/2 inches. The discs are 1 inch in diameter. Each earring weighs about 5 grams.
MATERIALS: Sterling silver, Garnet, Japanese seed bead
PROPERTIES OF STONES (information compiled from various sources): Garnet is supposed to be a stone of regeneration and stability. It is said to boost the entire system’s energy and bring inner strength as well as being a stone of romantic love and passion. Garnet is January's birthstone.
